Serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Community of Episcopalians in the Diocese of Washington D.C. And Our Allies Too!

Welcome to our site

The Episcopal Diocese of Washington, spanning D.C. and the Maryland counties of Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, and St Mary’s is as diverse as the as the area in which it resides.

Created in 1895, it contains 94 congregations, 1 cathedral, and 22 schools.

With many congregations being served by Women, Persons of Color, or by an Openly Gay or Lesbian priest, the diocese is a place of welcome for all. The diversity is reflected in the wide array of worship styles and parish life within our faith communities.

The diocese is a part of The Episcopal Church, which in turn is a part of the Global Anglican Communion. The Episcopal Church has over 100 dioceses, 7,350 congregations, and around 2.3 million members. Globally, the Anglican Communion has over 77 million members.

EDOW Pride is a ministry in the Diocese of Washington tailored to the needs of our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender  members.

We work within our home parishes to foster a place of welcome for all, gay or straight.

We participate in various events around the diocese and participate in the annual Capital Pride celebrations that take place each summer in Washington D.C.

We invite you to explore our site and learn more about the work we do!

All Are Welcome
